johnston canyon is located in the heart ofbeautiful banff national park and is easily accessible from the bow valleyparkway. it's an easy walk to the canyon from the highway where you can see the waterway flowing throughthe canyon before ending up in bow river far to the south. the johnston canyon ice walk is one of the mostpopular outings in the national park due to its easyaccessibility, and choice of great walks. visitors have the option of a short 600 metrepaved walk to the lower falls,
but if you trek another thirty minutes you'llbe rewarded by some spectacular scenery at the 'must see'upper falls. you can then travel further up an unpavedpath to reach the ink pots, but the trail can get slippery so it is well worth considering snow shoesand cleats.
